Job Purpose

This level requires good command and experience in various areas of Operational Risk Management in banking and financial sector with emphasis on technology. This level requires superior business analysis skills to understand and conceptualize the business requirements and processes to be in line regulatory requirements, best practices, standards, with founded risk culture/system. The role requires a good experience of management of risks and controls with broad perspective on technology and digital banking. To facilitate a consolidated reporting of the overall status of operational risk and control profile and provide support to the managers. To provide assistance to the superior levels within the department and junior level to perform the assigned activities.

Accountabilities

  • Consolidated all key operational risk data for analysis and reporting, ensuring data integrity and accuracy, via validation and evidence review (where applicable) .The senior specialist should be able to handle areas related to technology.
  • Lead the review operational processes and policies & procedures to evaluate the quality and efficiency of the first and second level of control and prepares to consolidate the information to allow for informed decision making within Operational Risk Management. The senior specialist should be able to handle areas related to technology.
  • Ensure Operational Risk Management representative during Local Internal Control Committee sessions. This includes review of the risk profiles and related information. The senior specialist should be able to handle areas related to technology.
  • Lead the review and understand the organizational structure of specific operational processes with view to determine operational risks and mitigation process. Review and set up recommendations for operational and controls procedures. The senior specialist should be able to handle areas related to technology.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of the necessary reviews (qualitative analysis of the operations, based on risk evaluation) to determine operational risks and mitigation methods. The senior specialist should be able to handle areas related to technology.
  • Lead operational risk incident analysis, ensure completeness and update the system with accurate data. Includes update and review of the business line, event types, causes, controls and risks mapping to the loss events and incidents. The senior specialist should be able to handle areas related to technology.
  • Manage the process of the operational risk mapping process in liaison with concerned business lines & support functions and operational entities and update changes if applicable. The senior specialist should be able to handle areas related to technology.
  • Responsible for reviewing the collecting and the reconciling of the operational loss data, and ensuring data integrity and soundness of the reports. The senior specialist should be able to handle areas related to technology.
  • Able to perform control testing (including back-testing) – including evidence review, observations, comparative analysis. The senior specialist should be able to handle areas related to technology.
  • Ensure and collect the evidence of the implementation of the set-up action plan to implement / enhance control efficiency and effectiveness. The senior specialist should be able to handle areas related to technology.

المهارات

  • A. degree (Technology, IT, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Security)
  • 6 – 12 years technology experience, preferably, in IT Operations, IT Governance, and Project Management, digital banking, operational risk or other control domains.
  • Understanding and awareness on the latest market trends (global and local) with regard to upcoming and current market technologies pertaining to the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of the latest regulatory, Basel guidelines, and best practices including those pertaining to Digital Banking and E-Commerce.
  • Key leadership qualities including responsibility, time management, team interaction and out of the box thinking.
  • In depth knowledge and hands-on experience of the banking processes and products.
  • Experience with products and services risk assessments and reviews.
  • Recommend control enhancements based on detailed analysis of key products and services including cost-benefit perspective.
  • Leading communications, workshops and assessments with business and the different stakeholders.
  • Able to prepare and present a theme in writing in an ordered, intelligible manner with well-structured and relevant details.
  • Strong Presentation and communication skills to lead presentations to management on key operational risk findings (assessments, incidents, reports).
  • Able to communicate in a clear and precise manner and able to write in sound business language, taking into account the needs and level of understanding of the anticipated recipients.
  • Able to read, comprehend, analyze and suggest enhancements on documentations including policies and procedures.
  • Through an in-depth understanding of the business environment, reviews outputs of analysis to identify anomalies and draws conclusions, relating these to operational circumstances.
  • Has a perspective of critical thinking/scientific method or practical reasoning
  • Allocate own time effectively within broader (weekly) time frames to meet objectives set by superior.
  • Able to define the most appropriate internal and external data/information source and manage information accordingly.
  • Able to identify the integrity of data and make appropriate recommendations regarding changes
  • Data mining (advanced), statistical and qualitative analytical skills
  • Have knowledge of the functionality of common software packages to enable streamlining of tasks.
  • Capable of using the system and/or systematized methods and techniques in fulfilling these functions including basic to moderate data mining and data sampling.
  • Knows when to use visual aids (graphs, diagrams etc.) within the report/letter to illustrate key points.
  • Conduct post-incident analysis and support in recommending appropriate changes to policy, procedure or process.
  • Good command of English and preferably Arabic language.
