Job Purpose:

Issuance and amendment of letters of credits (L/C)

Accountabilities:
  • Carry out Signature Verification; ensure completeness of Data on the applications.  Also assess whether awareness letter and or, insurance policy are required to be presented
  • Follow up with Credit Adminstration Dept. and or Relationship officer towards obtaining the approvals
  • Captures the transaction in Bank Trade system & ensures that the letters of credit/amendments are processed  in line with UCP, Banks' policy & procedure & as per the terms & conditions of the L/C application 
  • Once verified by the Supervisor/Section Head, ensure that the message has been transmitted. If in order file the copy of the transmitted message together with copies of relevant Debit/ Credit advices in the relevant file
  • If the message was rejected/nacked then after consulting with  the supervisor/section head & recapture the message only with a note "Avoid possible duplication"
  • Dispatch specimen signatures of applicants authorized signatories, if applicable to the nominated bank/advising bank. In case of rejected entries, based on BETA 93, GLA 9500, pass adjustment entries on "Wings"/ "Bank trade " system, latest by the following day
  • Reconciliation of NOSTRO, IBNULC, WASH accounts on a regular basis. With the coordination of the supervisor /section head 
  • Assist the supervisor/section head in the cancellation of expires letter of credits
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum Diploma, preferably graduate.
  • Good general knowledge of banking principles.
  • Very good command of English, written and spoken.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Basic knowledge of transaction processing in area of responsibility.
  • Sound knowledge of processing systems in area of responsibility.
  • Intermediate level understanding of Bank main processing systems.
  • Basic knowledge of UCP, Banks' policy & procedure.
  • Good numerical analytical skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to resolve issues with staff in other business areas.
  • Written and spoken fluency in Arabic and English languages preferred.
